Identical Twins Jill Justiniani and Erin Cheplak from California in the United States are used to doing a lot of things together – but one thing they didn’t think they could coordinate so precisely was the birth of their sons.

The sisters who were born a minute apart shared what led them to welcome their sons Oliver and Silas on the same day, despite having completely different due dates.

“It’s like it was meant to be. It’s kind of surprising because what are the odds? But it’s like, of course, it will happen to us,” Jill said. PEOPLE in an interview.

While the twins and their husbands planned to get pregnant at the same time, the couples never imagined their labor and delivery would line up as well.

The adventure began when Jill was due to have a C-section on May 5 after doctors discovered her son was in a breech position. At that time, Erin’s baby was not due for ten days, but on the morning of May 5, her waters broke.

“I called my husband, Zach, and I said, ‘Okay, it’s not a joke. My water just broke. I’m going to need you to come home from work and take me to the labor and delivery,'” she added. recalled.

Arriving at the same hospital, the sisters and their husbands spent the next few hours together in the same room while Jill waited for her procedure and Erin was in active labor.

“It was the four of us and all formed a support system together. They were there for my strong contractions, I couldn’t have gotten through it without that support,” Erin told PEOPLE.

Oliver came into the world at 6:39 p.m., and Silas followed a few hours later, arriving at 11:31 p.m.

The coincidences didn’t end there. The two boys weighed exactly the same birth weight of 3.26 kg and their height 50.8 cm. They also share the same second name James.

The two mums spent the following days in hospital, supporting each other and getting back together after being given rooms across the hall from each other.

“It’s just another really special thing for our sons – they’re going to have a sense of closeness that they can rely on each other too like my sister and I did,” says Jill.

Late last year, Jill and Erin announced their pregnancy together on social media and had a joint reunion gender reveal celebrate their pregnancies at the right time with family and close friends.
