The MPS is organizing a back-to-school resource fair on Thursday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – The start of the school year is fast approaching, and Montgomery Public Schools wants to make sure you’re ready. He is organizing a back-to-school resource fair.

The Resource Fair is Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. at the Eastdale Mall next to the skating rink. Community organizations and MPS staff will be there to talk about these resources and answer any questions you may have.

Students will return to class in just a few weeks, which means families need to prepare now.

“The biggest question is how, as a parent, can I support my child so they can be successful during the school year? said Ferlisa Dotson, Family and Community Engagement Specialist for MPS.

To help parents answer this question, Montgomery Public Schools will host a Back-to-School Resource Fair.

“Although our staff is highly qualified and certified, we have more students than staff. And so it’s an opportunity for parents to have additional resources beyond what MPS can provide,” Dotson said.

Several organizations will be present during the show. MPS wants parents to know that there are many ways to help their children reach their full potential.

“If your child is not doing well academically, perhaps visit one of our tutoring agencies who will be available. If your child is struggling with medical issues, perhaps talk to the folks at the Wellness Coalition or Medical Advocacy and Awareness. Or if you need your child to have something to do after school, then ASU ASPIRE and the TRIO program, come to their tables and find out what they can offer you,” Dotson said.

COVID-19 vaccines will also be available during the resource fair.
