MBBS course will start at Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital


Puri: The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) course will begin at Shri Jagannath Medical College & Hospital in Puri for the 2022-2023 academic session. The National Medical Commission (NMC) approved the registration of 100 MBBS seats.

It would appear that with the approval of the NMC, the Puri Shri Jagannath Medical College will start teaching MBBS from the next academic year. The number of MBBS seats in state government medical schools has increased from 1,050 to 1,150.

The state government is expected to announce the appointment of more than 50 doctors to Puri Medical College after securing the approval of 100 MBBS seats, reports added.

Currently, SCB Medical College & Hospital Cuttack, Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences And Research, Sambalpur and MKCG Medical College And Hospital, Berhampur have 250 MBBS places.

It is relevant to mention that the government of Odisha is taking all necessary measures to start the operation of the proposed medical college and hospital in Sundargarh from the next academic session. The medical school is being set up with the support of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) which will operate with 100 MBBS places while the hospital will have 500 beds.
