KU Ministry of Education Holds Nationwide Seminar on “Gender Equality”

Srinagar, March 10: The Education Department of the University of Kashmir organized a national-level seminar on “Gender Equality: Debates and Discourses” on Thursday.
Professor Mohiuddin Sangmi of the Dean College Development Council was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the seminar, which was organized by the department as part of the university’s celebrations of International Women’s Day.
In his presidential address, Professor Sangmi spoke of many challenges that hinder women’s empowerment and also highlighted the need for greater awareness to help tackle crimes against women.
The head of the department, Dr. Tasleema Jan, officially welcomed the guests and participants and introduced the topic of the seminar. She also stressed the need to recognize the achievements and contributions of women in different fields and stressed the recognition of the different roles that women play in society.
Renowned writer and Sahtiya Academy laureate, Prof. Naseem Shafaie, who was the guest of honor, said she defends through her poetry that women should be respected and accepted as having their own existence and essence. .
Professor Haseen Taj, Former Dean and Head of Department of Education, Bangaluru University, delivered the keynote address and highlighted the theme for Women’s Day 2022: “Gender Neutral Society “. She stressed the need to celebrate the socio-economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Former Dean and Director of the Department of Education at KU, Professor Mahmood Ahmad Khan, shed light on the history of International Women’s Day and appreciated the multiple roles a woman can play.
Assistant Professor Dr Amina Parveen delivered a vote of thanks at the inaugural session, which was followed by a technical session chaired by Professor NighatBasoo, former Dean and Head of Department of Education at Central University of Kashmir. It was co-chaired by Dr Aamina Parveen.
Dr. Kounsar Jan presented a detailed report on the event, after which a certificate distribution session was organized during which Prof. Tasleema Jan and Prof. Basoo distributed certificates to the participants.
Assistant Professor Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Rather coordinated the event and Dr. Mohammad Amin Dar acted as moderator.
