Inderkum High School student Anthony Williams killed in Rocklin crash

A senior Sacramento player and basketball player for Inderkum High School was identified as the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle on a Rocklin road over the weekend. Anthony Williams died in the crash Saturday, Natomas Unified School District spokeswoman Deidra Powell confirmed Sunday. This was Williams’ first year at Inderkum. He had been a student at Whitney High School and other schools in Rocklin before. “We are deeply saddened by the devastating loss of Anthony Williams, a student-athlete who attended Inderkum High School,” Powell said. “Anthony joined the Inderkum family this school year. During this short time, he has contributed positively to the school on and off the pitch. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and all those who knew and loved him.” The Inderkum basketball team said in an Instagram post that they are “devastated by the loss of our Anthony Williams family.” “Please keep Anthony and all who love him in your hearts and prayers,” the message read. “Family Forever!!!!!” The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Lonetree Boulevard and Adams Drive when a driver struck a pedestrian, Rocklin police said. The driver reportedly cooperated with the investigation. Rocklin Police referred KCRA 3 to the Placer County Coroner’s Office on Sunday. Meanwhile, candles and a photo in memory of Williams could be seen at the crash site on Sunday evening. Natomas Unified plans to have bereavement counselors and chaplains on the Inderkum High School campus on Monday. The Rocklin Unified School District also released a statement Sunday night saying it would be offering counseling services this week. “With heavy hearts, the Rocklin Unified School District mourns the loss of a former student, Anthony Williams, who was involved in a tragic accident over the weekend,” the district statement read. “Anthony attended elementary, middle school, and his first three years of high school at Rocklin Unified. Although he may have attended a different school for his senior year, Anthony had a positive impact on many students and members of the RUSD staff Whitney High School and the Rocklin Unified School District will be offering additional counseling services to students and staff this week as we all process this loss.
