Haryana: Ministry of Health Officials Lead Medical Termination of Pregnancy Raid at Yamunanagar Pharmacy | Chandigarh News


YAMUNANAGAR: Officials from the Yamunanagar health department conducted a medical termination of pregnancy (MTP) raid on Saturday at the Prakash Chemist store in Chowk Bazaar, Jagadhri.
District civilian surgeon Dr Vijay Dahiya said information was received by the health department and a decoy customer was sent to the store on Friday and the owner agreed to perform an abortion.
Dr Vijay testified that the accused requested an advance of 1000 rupees which was given to him by the decoy.
“The accused asked the decoy to confirm the pregnancy with a urine pregnancy test (UPT) kit that he provided. The decoy patient went to a nearby location to use the toilet to do the test and came back with a positive result. Then the owner of the store gave the decoy a brown envelope with 1K written on it and asked them to come on Saturday morning with the envelope as proof of payment already given, ”said Dr. Vijay .
He said on Saturday that the decoy made it to the store, the accused handed over his MTP kit and explained in detail the process of taking the pills.
“Our team raided the store and the envelope with 1K written on it and the two banknotes marked Rs 500 were recovered from there. Other UPT kits found in the store have the same lot number as the kit given to the decoy The store has four CCTV cameras have been installed and the DVR is being used as evidence, ”Dr Vijay said.
He said a team of nodal officer Dr Puneet Kalra and DCO Yamunanagar from Parveen initiated legal proceedings against the accused.
