With five straight top-10 finishes, Greg Van Alst and his Greg Van Alst Motorsports team head to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to try to extend his streak to six in Friday night’s Dawn 150k.
With the strength of a career-high five top-10 finishes in a single season under his belt and three consecutive eighth-place finishes, the native of Anderson, Ind. hopes to embrace his first career road run with a strong finish and continued ascent. in the ARCA Menards Series championship standings.
“We feel good after the break,” said Van Alst. “It’s been tough for us, but luckily we’re in a good place with our Greg Van Alst Motorsports team and making progress in our overall programme. Now we’re ready to embrace our road debut in the hope that it will prepare us for an even stronger performance at Watkins Glen next month.
With his bread and butter performing on the short, fast tracks of Indiana and surrounding states, Van Alst isn’t quite sure what to expect when it comes to left and right turns, but the seasoned veteran has taken the necessary steps to ease his transition. as transparent as possible.
“I feel like I’ve done all the traditional components of studying the race track, watching last year’s ARCA race, looking at the track map – everything you think you can nothing beats actual track time and I have an hour on Friday to familiarize myself with Mid-Ohio and hopefully in a good location for Friday night’s race.
To help Van Alst record his sixth top 10 finish of the 2022 ARCA Menards Series season, the team purchased a road course-specific car from Chad Bryant Racing.
“Chad has been a huge asset to our organization,” added Van Alst. “We bought a fleet of racing cars from Chad and he was instrumental in helping us with anything we might need.
“He wants us to go fast, but also to succeed and for someone who is writing the next chapters with his old race cars, that’s part of the family element that I love so much with the ARCA Menards series. I don’t know if we’ll be as fast as his car on Friday night, but we’ll try to give them a hard time.
