Estonian national defense course graduates gather to discuss Estonia’s security


More than 600 graduates of the Estonian National Defense Course (ENDC) will gather today at the Creative Hub in Tallinn for a conference on Estonian foreign and security policy and national defence.

Prime Minister Kaja Kallas will open the second national defense conference of ENDC graduates and the Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur will also address the gathering. President Alar Karis will deliver the closing speech.

“ENDC graduates know how Estonia’s defense policy arose and have trained to solve major and serious security crises under the guidance of experts during their course,” said Madis Mikko, director of the ENDC. “Now that Russia’s brutal war of aggression continues in Europe and we have several years of health crisis behind us, it is important to sum up the knowledge and experience accumulated over the years and to discuss together the present and the future of Estonian national defense.I am sure that the more our graduates contribute to discussions on Estonian defense policy, the better it will be for our country.

The first ENDC graduate conference took place in 2019.

The ENDC was first offered in 1999 and nearly 2,300 people have taken the course since. Graduates include heads of municipalities, businesses and public bodies, doctors, journalists, civil servants, politicians and senior military officers. Among the graduates are also three prime ministers, two commanders of the defense forces and around 100 members of the Riigikogu. More information about the course:

The International Center for Defense and Security is organizing the second National Defense Conference with the Government Office, the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Police and Border Guard Board.
